The Anne McCormick Sullivan Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 after the Southwest Inn fire tragically took the lives of four Houston Firefighters, including Anne. The Foundation was started in her name with the purpose of assisting women in pursuit of a career in professional firefighting.
While volunteering with the Stafford Fire Department, Mike had the privilege of serving on shift 2B with Anne Sullivan. She was a wonderful woman who loved the fire service with all of her heart, and she exuded that love in all that she did. She eventually landed her dream job as a career fire fighter with the Houston Fire Department. On May 31st, 2013, Anne was involved with the Southwest Inn fire, a fire in an Indian restaurant that spread to an adjoining hotel. The fire claimed the biggest casualty loss for the Houston Fire Department since its inception, and Anne was unfortunately among the firefighters claimed by the fire. In tribute, Mike named his ocean rowboat Anne.
